DECEMBER 12 – 23, 2020

VENUE: Alderford Lake, Whitchurch

Panto came to Alderford Lake…oh, yes it did!

Due to Covid-19, we were unable to produce pantomime in our usual indoor venues. As such, we were keen to explore alternative ways to bring festive cheer to our audiences. In a first for both the venue and ourselves, we and our friends at Alderford Lake (one of our regular open-air venues) decided to work together and produce Alderford Lake’s first ever pop-up pantomime.

With careful planning and preparation, we transformed a marquee in a field into a mini-theatre seating 260, socially-distanced.

Fortunately, we were unaffected by the tier reviews and so, much to our relief, managed to complete our run. In addition to welcoming the general public, we were able to accommodate schools and offered the show as a stream for those unable to attend as a result of lockdown or those who may not have felt comfortable attending a live event yet.

Our most unique challenge was finding ways around things we’d usually take for granted in a conventional venue i.e. hanging LX and cloths, etc…however, we worked to find creative solutions and feel immensely proud to have created a show which, whilst smaller in scale than we’d usually produce, was of the same high quality our audiences have come to expect from us.
